Jornada Verde con Altos de la Caobita y Recicla+
This day, organized together with Recicla+, was dedicated to community awareness and action around recycling. A few days ago, along with Recicla+ and Iguamanglar, we embarked on an unforgettable journey with the youth of the community. We started at Recicla+'s collection center, where we learned about the vital importance of recycling and sustainability. Then, we explored Iguamanglar's iguana and mangrove trail, reaching the beautiful Los Negros beach. At La Caobita beach, we held an educational activity on the value of mangroves, and to conclude, we enjoyed a recreational day at our Eco-Hotel. It was a day filled with adventure, fun, and learning, leaving a positive and lasting impact on all participants. Join us for this unique experience! #ReciclaPlus #AltosDeLaCaobita #Sustainability #EcoTourism #Adventure #Learning
Our Visit to Birds Caribbean 2024
We had the pleasure of attending the Birds Caribbean 2024 conference in Santo Domingo! We had the honor of attending the lecture "From Mangroves to Mountains: Supporting Bird Conservation, Key Sites, and Sustainable Livelihoods through the Caribbean Birding Trail". This event allowed us to learn about various initiatives focused on bird conservation and promoting sustainable livelihoods across the Caribbean. At Altos de la Caobita, we are committed to promoting ecotourism and preserving biodiversity. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments!

Young Talents from ESADE at Altos de la Caobita
This summer, we had the honor of hosting Nika and Carlota, two students from ESADE, a prestigious business school in Spain, for an internship at our eco-hotel. This is the fourth consecutive year we have hosted internships with ESADE students, and it is always a pleasure to welcome new talents each year. The girls participated in various activities, from the daily management of the hotel to the implementation of marketing strategies to promote the project. They shared their fresh vision and knowledge gained from their prestigious institution, bringing innovative ideas to improve our services. Their projects not only benefited the hotel but also the local community. The collaboration was an enriching exchange and left a positive mark on all of us.

Cultivating Knowledge with UPC
This month, we welcomed Paco and Jordi, professors from the School of Agri-Food Engineering and Systems at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), who came to the Altos de la Caobita eco-hotel to explore farming possibilities in our area. Together with local agronomists, they toured the region and evaluated the soil and climate conditions. During their visit, they discovered various opportunities for sustainable agriculture and planned the creation of an organic garden to be implemented soon. Their knowledge and experience provided us with a solid foundation for future agricultural projects, further strengthening our commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

Exploring Playa Caobita: A Hidden Paradise
Today we woke up early and headed to Playa Caobita, a true hidden paradise near our eco-hotel (in the Routes section you can find various paths to reach the beach from the hotel). The crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, and we spent hours exploring the coast. At noon, we enjoyed a picnic with local food while the sea breeze refreshed us. The tranquility and beauty of this beach provided us with a day of total relaxation, far from the hustle and in complete harmony with nature.

A journey to the past in the Indian Cave
We enjoyed a peaceful excursion to the Indian Cave in Barreras, a historical treasure surrounded by lush vegetation.
The 20-minute walk took us through a beautiful and serene landscape to the entrance of the cave. Inside, the walls are adorned with ancient rock paintings that tell the story of the area's first inhabitants. It was an enriching experience, perfect for those seeking to connect with history and nature in a peaceful setting.
